If worshippers pray on the street and the direction deviates slightly from the qibla
Question
There is only one mosque in the neighbourhood, and at the Friday prayer (jumu‘a) as well as at the two ‘Id prayers, once the mosque has filled up, the remaining worshippers are compelled to pray on the street. When praying on the street, no one’s face ends up towards the qibla, because the qibla is slightly slanted while the street is perfectly straight, and there is no other way.
Answer
In India the prayer is performed facing west; if the deviation is slight, the prayer is still valid. But if one ends up facing north or south, the prayer will not be valid. Now judge for yourselves.
