Medical examinations by a Muslim doctor for the insurance corporation
Question
Question: Is it permissible for a Muslim doctor to be appointed by the Life Insurance Corporation to examine the health of those people who are to be insured? The doctor is paid a fee by the Corporation for each examination. Before or after the examination the doctor has no further concern; he only verifies or diagnoses the things that the applicant for insurance declares about his health in his application.
Answer
Life insurance is impermissible; the fee that the doctor takes for carrying out the examination is permissible, and he may spend it on any of his needs.
