The ruling on interest-derived wealth after repentance
Question
Question: A certain person has been running an interest business, and now he says: “I have given up taking interest.” What needs to be ascertained is: will his accumulated wealth become pure or not? And is it permissible to eat at his invitation or not?
Answer
Whatever amount of interest he has taken, he should return it; from the remainder, eating and feeding others are all permissible. So it is in “Radd al-Muhtar”.
