Taking an interest-bearing loan

Question

Question: I am a primary school teacher; I have five children and my mother. For household needs I take interest-bearing loans; my heart is always troubled, so much so that I cannot even carry out religious tasks properly. In such a state, can I take an industrial loan from the government in order to put my livelihood right, on which some interest will also have to be paid along with the instalments, or not? Is there any allowance for me in such a case or not?

Answer

Taking interest and giving interest is haram. If there is no way at all to get by, then there is an allowance for a needy person to take an interest-bearing loan to the extent of necessity.
