Using clothes made with an interest-bearing loan
Question
Question: The parents of this humble one have passed away; we are two brothers and one sister, and I am the youngest. The inherited property is under the supervision of my elder brother alone and has not been divided so far. This humble one is employed at Madrasa Islamiyya Fayd al-ʿUlum, Hyderabad. Although my brother is a farmer, he recently had clothes made for me; on asking him, it became known that he had the clothes made by taking an interest-bearing loan.
Answer
Taking and giving interest is a major sin. But the money that he gave you in cash after taking a loan is not interest; likewise the clothes that he made for you after taking a loan are also not interest; they are permissible for you.
