Memorizing the Qur’an and Then Forgetting It

Question

A person who is a hafiz has forgotten the Noble Qur’an. Does he deserve to be called a hafiz or not? Is one who forgets it a sinner or not?

To memorize the Noble Qur’an and then forget it is a very grave disrespect toward the Noble Qur’an, and ingratitude for a supreme blessing; and there is a warning against ingratitude: [ar]لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِى لَشَدِيدٌ[/ar] “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favour]; but if you are ungrateful, indeed, My…
