How Is Allah to Be Taken as One’s Wakil (Trustee)?
Question
(1) [It is said]: [ar]رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًا[/ar] “Lord of the east and the west; there is no god but He, so take Him as a Guardian (Wakil)” (Surah al-Muzzammil, 73:9). Please explain how He is to be taken as one’s Wakil — give some explanation of this; presumably it will not suffice merely to say so with the tongue?
Answer
One’s affairs are to be entrusted to Allah, holding complete trust in one’s heart that my true Sustainer is He alone — He arranges the matter however He wills. Apparent [worldly] means are not truly efficacious in themselves.
