Prohibition by Suckling When the Child Has Reached Two and a Half Years
Question
(1) A woman named Rahima and Imam Husayn are in an actual blood relationship of paternal aunt and nephew. Rahima was 20 years old, and Imam Husayn had already reached two and a half years. Imam Husayn, at the age of two and a half years, drank the milk of his own paternal grandmother, and between the aunt and the nephew there is a gap of twenty years. Now, is Imam Husayn’s nikah with the daughter of the said Rahima permissible or not? Has this suckling been established or not?
Answer
(1) If the milk was drunk when he had already reached the age of two and a half years, the prohibition by suckling was not established by it; hence Rahima’s daughter did not become the daughter of Imam Husayn’s milk sister (his niece), and the nikah of these two is valid. (2)
