Familiarity with a Doctor Does Not Dissolve the Nikah
Question
If a woman becomes familiar with her physician, who is moreover an unbeliever (kafir), is alone with him in private, becomes completely unveiled before him, corresponds with him, and embroiders handkerchiefs and gives them to him as a gift, embroidering her own name and his name together in one place, then has the nikah been dissolved by these acts?
Answer
There is no doubt that these acts are impermissible and sinful, but the nikah is not dissolved by them. So it is in “Majmu‘at al-Fatawa”. Hence the mahr is not forfeited either.
