Applying Sindoor and Henna

Question

Applying sindoor (red powder), which women apply at the time of a wedding or apart from it — is it permissible or not?

Answer

Applying sindoor is also included in this same ruling — indeed, it goes somewhat further. For women, applying henna is proper; indeed, it is specific to them that they apply it to the hands and feet. It is not proper for men to adopt resemblance to them: [ar]لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْمُتَشَبِّهِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ بِالنِّسَاءِ[/ar] “Allah has cursed those men who imitate women”…
