Walima Before the Bride’s Send-off

Question

After the wedding, the first meeting of husband and wife sometimes takes place in the girl’s parental home itself. In such a case, if the boy’s side holds the walima at their own home without having had the bride’s send-off to her husband’s home, is it the walima according to the sunna or not? What is the form of the walima according to the sunna?

Answer

The feast given after the spouses have come together is the walima, wherever the bina (consummation) may take place.
