The Ruling on the Wedding Procession

Question

(1) Is it permissible to take out the groom’s wedding procession or not? And is it transmitted from the Prophet ﷺ and the noble Companions or not? (2) If two to four men from the boy’s side go to the girl’s house for the nikah, does this fall under the ruling of a wedding procession or not?

Answer

(1) Inviting people to attend the gathering of the marriage contract ('aqd) is established: summoning people by sending a man at the time of the nikah of Hazrat Fatima ﵂ is mentioned in “Tarikh al-Khamis”. (2) By custom ('urf) this is not called a wedding procession.
