Nikah with the Daughter of One’s Paternal Cousin
Question
There are a brother and a sister. The brother has a son, and the sister’s son has a daughter. By kinship the brother’s son is this girl’s paternal uncle. Can the two of them marry each other or not?
Answer
This relationship is not the kind of kinship on account of which nikah becomes haram. Nikah with the daughter of one’s full brother or full sister is impermissible; but nikah with the daughter of a female cousin — whether through the paternal aunt, the paternal uncle, the maternal aunt or the maternal uncle — is not impermissible.
