Nikah with the Daughter of One’s Paternal Aunt

Question

May a person contract the marriage (‘aqd) of his son with the daughter of his own full sister, or not?

Answer

Nikah with the daughter of one’s paternal aunt is valid. She is not among the women with whom nikah is haram. [ar]وَأُحِلَّ لَكُم مَّا وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكُمْ[/ar] “…and lawful to you is what lies beyond these…” (Surah al-Nisa’, 4:24).
