A Nikah Performed by a Beardless Qadi
Question
Zayd’s nikah was contracted with Mushtari. The qadi (here: the one performing the nikah) is a person who has no beard, and he has already performed the nikah. Did the nikah take place or not?
Answer
If the qadi is beardless, the nikah performed by him will be valid. Editor’s note (Abu al-Qasim Adrawi): however, it is better to have the nikah performed by a God-fearing religious scholar.
