If a New Eidgah Is Also Built, in Which Should the Prayer Be Performed?
Question
The situation is that here the people of eighteen small Eidgahs (open grounds for the Eid prayer) together built one Eidgah in 1948. On half a bigha (a local unit of land area) of land belonging to the respected Fakhr al-Din they built the new large Eidgah; the old small Eidgahs fell completely into disuse. The majority of the Muslims go to the new Eidgah, and some people pray in the old Eidgah. The disagreement among them is very severe. What should be done in such a situation?
Answer
The old Eidgah is also waqf, but it is small; the new Eidgah is also waqf, and it is large, able to hold all the worshippers. If everyone agrees to designate the old Eidgah for the five daily prayers and keep it populated, and they pray the Eid prayer in the new Eidgah, this arrangement is best.
