The intention for the Jumu'a prayer
Question
Is the intention for the Jumu'a prayer made in this way: “I intend four rak'as of the sunna of Jumu'a”, and in the same way the intention for the fard is made, and then, after the fard prayer, the intention is in the same way: “I intend four rak'as of sunna after Jumu'a”, and in the same way one makes the intention for the two rak'as of sunna and for the nafl — is the intention correct in both cases or not? What is the correct method; how should the intention for Jumu'a be made?
Answer
Jumu'a is fard; one should not make the intention of sunna in it. Yes, in the sunna before Jumu'a and the sunna after Jumu'a the intention is made as for a sunna: that this is the sunna before and this is the sunna after; in the four [rak'as] one should intend four and in the two, two.
