Praying at the Time of Zawal on Friday

Question

Most of us here are labourers. Since by British time I start work at two in the afternoon (there are two shifts here, morning and evening), those who work in the morning pray the Jumu‘a prayer at ease, for there are two mosques here: in the second mosque Jumu‘a is at three o’clock, and in one mosque the Jumu‘a prayer is at one–two o’clock, because here there is a difference of one hour in clock time between summer and winter.

Answer

Both views are mentioned in the books of fiqh — “Radd al-Muhtar” and others. One has been adopted in “Imdad al-Fatawa”, the other in “Fatawa Dar al-‘Ulum”. The view of “Imdad al-Fatawa” of Hazrat Mawlana Ashraf ‘Ali Thanawi ﵀ is the broader, and the view of “Fatawa Dar al-‘Ulum” is the more cautious; there is room for both. The answer is correct.
