An odd number of rows in the funeral prayer

Question

(1) In the funeral prayer great attention is paid to an odd number [of rows]. Is this correct? (2) Further, in order to complete this odd number, will the rows of minors also be counted or not?

Answer

(1) In the funeral prayer an odd number of rows should be observed; this is precisely what is mustahabb according to the Shari‘a. (2) In observing this odd number, the row of minors may also be counted.
