The funeral prayer on a prayer mat

Question

If the funeral prayer is performed after spreading out a prayer mat, there is surely no harm in that, is there?

Answer

If [the imam] spreads out his own prayer mat and leads the prayer, there is no harm in it; however, [the mat] is not part of the kafan (shroud), and making it a binding practice (iltizam) is not correct.
