Waiting for the people of other neighbourhoods for the funeral prayer
Question
Our practice here is that when someone dies, people go to all the neighbourhoods to announce it, and the funeral prayer is kept waiting until all the people have come. Is this correct or not?
Answer
There is no objection to announcing [the death] for the funeral prayer; then whoever has the opportunity may come and take part. But to delay [the prayer] waiting for the people of another neighbourhood — so that the prayer is not performed until the people from everywhere have come, however long it may take — this is not right.
