The Funeral Prayer for a Fornicatress and a Child Born of Zina

Question

A woman was established to be pregnant from zina, and two days after the birth both the mother and the child died. Should the funeral prayer be performed over them or not? For it has been commanded that the fornicator and the fornicatress be stoned.

Answer

The funeral prayer over both is necessary (lazim). The ruling of stoning is a separate one, and the funeral prayer does not lapse because of it. And as for such a child, there is not even a command to stone him.
