When to release the hands in the funeral prayer

Question

At the time of giving the salam in the funeral prayer, should the hands be kept folded or released; or, when giving the salam to the right, should both hands be released, or only the right hand; or should they not be released at all, and both hands released after the salam? Kindly write with proofs and references to books.

Answer

[ar]فيعتمد في حالة القنوت وصلاة الجنازة[/ar] “…so he places [the right hand over the left] during the qunut and in the funeral prayer” (“al-Hidaya”, vol. 1, p. 86). From this it is known that in the funeral prayer the hands are not released but kept folded; and it is evident that this is the ruling for the whole of the funeral prayer, i.e.
