The follower gave the salam after the fourth takbir

Question

In the funeral prayer, after four takbirs, should the followers (muqtadis) wait for the imam, or give the salam, or give the salam only after the imam gives the salam, even if the imam says a fifth takbir?

Answer

Even if the imam says a fifth takbir, the followers should wait for the salam and, without saying the fifth takbir, give the salam together with the imam. If [a follower] gave the salam before the imam, the prayer has still been fulfilled.
