What should be recited after the fourth takbir of the funeral prayer?

There are 4 takbirs in the funeral prayer. The question is: at the last takbir the salam comes immediately after the takbir. What is the wisdom in this?

Answer

The zahir al-riwaya (the principal transmission of the school) is exactly this: after the fourth takbir the salam is given and nothing is recited in between. However, in other transmissions the recitation of certain supplications is also reported. Thus it is stated in “al-Bahr”, vol. 2, p. 183: [ar]وأشار بقوله: «وتسليمتين بعد الرابعة»
