Burning the Holy Qur’an
Question
A Muslim is a drunkard, a gambler, an adulterer; he has a relationship with a bad woman with whom he commits fornication. His wife, to stop him, adjured him by the Holy Qur’an, whereupon he (ma‘adhallah) burnt the Holy Qur’an. What is the ruling of the Sacred Law on him?
Answer
The state of this man is extremely dangerous; remaining in iman with this is extremely difficult — may Allah Most High guide him and reform him. Burning the Holy Qur’an, if done to insult it, is kufr.
