Mocking the Mosque

Question

A Muslim speaks bad words about the mosque and, sitting among Hindus, mocks it. He is a factional man, keeps his household and kin with him, and does not come to the mosque to pray. What is the ruling on him?

Answer

Insulting the mosque, abusing it, mocking it is very dangerous; with it iman does not remain intact. Such a person must repent; in future let him by no means utter any word that insults the mosque. This man is unlearned — he should be gently made to understand; with harsh treatment he might be spoiled still further.
