Insulting the Beard

Question

What is the ruling on shaving the beard and insulting the bearded — for example, saying such words as “there is rubbish on his cheeks”, “a jungle”?

Answer

Shaving the beard is impermissible, and mocking it is an extremely dangerous matter, for it is mockery of the sunna of the Noble Prophet ﷺ; if it is mocked with that intent, it is kufr.
