Reliability of “Taqwiyat al-Iman” and Other Books
Question
What kind of books are “Taqwiyat al-Iman”, “Bihishti Zewar” (“Heavenly Ornaments”), and “Islah al-Rusum”? Should they be read or not? What is the ruling on a person who speaks ill of these books?
Answer
These books are correct and reliable (mu‘tabar). Whoever reads them with the understanding [imparted] by the ulama and the researchers (muhaqqiqin) will find no difficulty in them at all. Whoever speaks ill of these books is either uninformed or stubbornly hostile (mu‘anid); in either case, he is mistaken.
