The Deoband Elders’ Books — A Point-by-Point Reply

Question

A certain person declares the books of the elders of Deoband to be wrong; please answer point by point. (1) “Taqwiyat al-Iman” is not by the respected Hazrat Isma‘il Dehlawi, and “Sirat al-Mustaqim” is not his either. (2) “Hifz al-Iman” is not by the respected Maulana Ashraf Ali; do not read that one either. We are men of the Tablighi Jama‘at, we are unlettered, while the man raising this objection is educated — do these books belong to our own Jama‘at or not?

Answer

People of the Tablighi Jama‘at should not get drawn into this dispute. Those who are not educated should content themselves with their six points, and should read and listen to the books of the Tablighi curriculum.
