The Complaint Against Mawlana Thanawi

Question

An application has come to this Sirat Committee, the text of which is set out below. The Committee has decided to convey the content of the application, in its own form, and to refer it to the centres of Deoband, Bareilly and Jama‘at-e Islami, so that confirmation may be obtained from you as to your opinion on the accuracy of the text set out in the application. Also, in the light of the Qur’an and Hadith, tell us what belief should be held concerning Hazrat Mawlana Ashraf ‘Ali Thanawi.

Answer

A long time has already passed since Hifz al-Iman was printed; it has been printed many times in various places and continues to be printed; it is not rare — one may order it and see for oneself. There is no mention of a dog or a pig in it. A commentary on it was written by the author himself, named “Bast al-Banan”.
