Being Occupied with One's Litany During a Scholar's Talk
Question
Is it not contrary to what is preferable (khilaf al-awla) for a person, during a scholar's lecture, or a hadith lesson, or the reading of some religious book, to remain occupied with his own regular litany — the third kalima, istighfar, or salawat?
Answer
In this way one can neither derive the full benefit of the lecture, nor give full attention to one's litany — rather, both tasks remain incomplete.
