Teaching Girls in a Madrasa

Question

In our village a madrasa is being run under the name Bab al-‘Ulum, in which most of the students are girls and the boys are few. These girl and boy students are taught only by male teachers. Among the senior students of this madrasa’s head teacher, some are already adults (baligh), and some girl students, too, have come close to puberty; and there are some students whose age is still young, but many of them already appear to require hijab.

Answer

When a girl becomes an adult, or approaches adulthood, it becomes necessary to firmly instil in her the observance of hijab; otherwise she will remain without hijab for her whole life. In a religious madrasa the purpose is not education alone, but moral upbringing and practical training in observance of the rulings as well.
