The Education of Women

Question

Kindly inform us of the rulings of Islam regarding the education of women — we shall be obliged and grateful.

Answer

Religious and worldly education, according to need, is not only permissible but obligatory for women as well; however, observance of the limits of the Sacred Law is necessary. The prevailing method of higher worldly education exceeds the limits of the Sacred Law and the limits of morality, and carries within it countless corruptions and trials (fitna).
