Education Is Obligatory for Both Boy and Girl

Question

The young man is educated; the girl’s parents are unaware of the teachings of the Qur’an. The young man observes the Sacred Law, but no one is concerned about arranging his marriage.

Answer

Religious education is necessary for both the boy and the girl, and the need for it lasts one’s whole life, not only for the sake of marriage. Therefore, to be concerned about the education of one while disregarding the education of the other is wrong. The young man observes the Sacred Law — not arranging his marriage is an injustice (zulm).
