Deducting milling loss at the mill
Question
Question: Flour-mill owners deduct one seer (a unit of weight, ≈ 0.93 kg) for milling loss per maund (a unit of weight, ≈ 37 kg), whereas the milling loss in one maund is perhaps one chhatank (a unit of weight, 1/16 of a seer, ≈ 58 g). Is this permissible for the mill owners, and is there no sin in it?
Answer
Deducting that much flour under this name is impermissible; there is sin in it.
