Fixing the fish itself as the wage for catching it

Question

Question: The boatman who takes out fish takes his wage for the catch from half of the fish itself. Is this wage permissible or not? If not, then how should the wage be paid?

Answer

Fixing that very fish — half of it, or more or less — as the wage of the boatman who takes out the fish is not correct.
