When the Mufrid and the Qarin Perform Sa'y (A Follow-up to the Previous Question)

Respected Mawlana Mufti Mahmud Hasan Gangohi, may his grace spread! Greetings according to the sunna. I received the answer to my query (istifta') but it did not satisfy me. I had asked whether the mufrid and the qarin should perform sa'y after the tawaf or not, and you wrote, “I do not understand,” although it is a simple matter.

Answer

Look at your letter again: it says, “Will the mufrid and the qarin perform sa'y in the tawaf or not?” It is a simple matter that tawaf takes place in the Sacred Mosque and sa'y takes place between Safa and Marwa; how, then, could the meaning of “performing sa'y in the tawaf” be understood? Now you have clarified the meaning.
