Sending One Who Has the Means on Hajj
Question
Because of my wife’s bad conduct, displeasure towards her arose in me. Now she wishes to come to me from her home, and I sent word to her: “Go on Hajj and come back; then I will keep you in the house. Before that you cannot come into the house, you cannot see my face, and I cannot see your face.” Is my setting the condition of Hajj correct or not, since sins are forgiven through performing Hajj?
Answer
If Hajj is fard upon her, then she should certainly be sent on Hajj. If it is expected that she will be reformed only through Hajj and will not be reformed without it, then let her perform Hajj first. If she is remorseful and ashamed of her mistake, you may call her back even before Hajj.
