The progress of Islam

Question

Question: None of the people of my household have the slightest interest in or sympathy for Islam; they want to adopt European culture. I teach the children — boys and girls younger than me — and try to teach them entirely in the Islamic way. My elder brother is of the view that Islam cannot progress without adopting European culture. Therefore he teaches the children dancing, singing and the like, and tells them to do everything in a non-Islamic way.

Answer

The progress of a Muslim lies in the progress of his Islam, the basis of which is following the Noble Qur’an and the noble hadith. If European ways are adopted, this will be neither the progress of Islam nor the progress of the Muslim; rather, it will be the progress of the European way by means of the Muslim.
