A woman applying sindoor in the hair parting and a bindi on the forehead
Question
May a woman, for her adornment, apply sindoor (red powder) in the parting of her hair and a bindi (a decorative dot worn by Hindu women) on her forehead?
Answer
Sindoor in the parting and a bindi on the forehead are a symbol (shi‘ar) of non-Muslim women; it is necessary to avoid this — never adopt it.
