Intercourse with a woman in the anus
Question
Roughly 25 years ago I came across a hadith in which the noble Companions ﵃ asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether they could have intercourse (jimaʿ) with their lawfully married wife (mankuha) through the anus (dubur) or not. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The woman is your tilth; come from wherever (you wish).” At this the noble Companions said that from intercourse through the anus the child is born squint-eyed. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If that were so, why has it not happened among the Jews?
Answer
The woman’s place of intercourse (the farj) is fixed: it alone is the place of tilth, and from it alone offspring are born. There is, however, a choice: when having intercourse in this place, he may lay her on her back or face down — both ways are permitted.
