For a wife’s rudeness and foul speech the husband also has the right to strike her
Question
Question: There is a woman who goes to her parents’ home without her husband’s consent; if someone came from there to fetch her, she went along with him. Sometimes the husband, purely out of considerations of benefit, gave permission to the person who came to fetch her, but the woman herself never asked him about her going. On top of that, she accused the husband, saying: “He treats me like a slave.
Answer
The woman has the full right to demand the removal of whatever grievance she has against her husband. If that is removed and she faces no difficulty regarding maintenance (nafaqa) and the like, then she has no right to go to her parents’ home without her husband’s permission; if she goes, she will be termed a nashiza (a recalcitrant wife)
