Obeying the husband in a sinful matter

Question

My brother was ill. I made a vow and swore an oath that if he got well I would give up films. He got well. It has now been four years since I watched a film, but now my husband wants me to watch films with him. When I told him about the vow, he says, “This sin will be on me,” or, “It can also be that I transfer this vow and oath to someone else.” In such a situation, is it necessary for me to obey my husband or not?

Answer

Now there no longer remains any right to change the oath or the vow or to turn it elsewhere. Watching films is breaking a covenant with Allah the Pure, the outcome of which in this world and the Hereafter is extremely bad and unbearable.
