A doctor taking a fee from a courtesan
Question
What is the ruling on buying and selling with those whose earnings are impermissible, such as a courtesan, or on a doctor taking a fee from a courtesan? In that case, what if she borrows from someone and pays — how is that? And likewise, is it permissible to eat at her invitation or not?
Answer
If she gives money from unlawful earnings, then it is not correct for the doctor or the shopkeeper to take the fee or the price; accepting an invitation paid for with such money is also not correct. Yes, if she takes a loan and gives lawful money, then taking it is correct.
