Some forms of bribery and repentance from it
Question
Zayd, an employee of a committee, did some permissible work of ‘Umar, an applicant to the committee, quickly instead of delaying it. Zayd caused no delay in time in carrying out the committee’s other work; rather, Zayd did ‘Umar’s work outside the committee’s fixed hours, in off-duty time, and in doing ‘Umar’s work Zayd caused no loss to the committee’s income or time.
Answer
(1) If Zayd could have done this work within the committee’s fixed hours but did not do it then because of taking money from ‘Umar, and instead did it outside those hours and wasted the committee’s time uselessly, then this is a betrayal (khiyana) of the committee and a stratagem (hila) for taking a bribe.
