Trade by means of unlawful wealth
Question
Question: If some lawful business is started with unlawful wealth, will its income be haram or halal? And will it be permissible to spend it on some good cause or not?
Answer
If he specified the unlawful wealth and bought lawful goods in exchange for it, and then paid that same specified unlawful wealth as the price, then the income from it is impermissible; it should be spent on the poor and the needy (masakin), and spending it on any other good cause or on one’s own needs is not right according to the Shari‘a.
