Buying and selling unlawful wealth

Question

Question: If someone buys wealth of riba (interest), does it become halal, or does it remain haram despite having been bought? Please write in detail.

Answer

If that wealth came to someone in a purely unlawful way, it is not permissible to buy it, because it must be returned to its real owner. [ar]الحرام ينتقل، فلو دخل بأمان وأخذ مال حربي بلا رضاه وأخرجه إلينا ملكه وصح بيعه، لكن لا يطيب له ولا للمشتري منه[/ar] “The unlawful passes on (with the thing). So if he entered (the abode of war) under a safe-conduct (aman)
