Punishment for riding in a rickshaw with a non-mahram
Question
I am a woman of sixty years, and I sat in a rickshaw with a man of 65 years from the market to my home. When I reached home, my community expelled me from the community. So what I want to ask you is: if I went sitting with him, what sin is there in that? And if I even committed some sin with him, what is the punishment, or what is the expiation (kaffara), so that I may carry it out and be able to rejoin the community?
Answer
Hijab from a non-mahram is obligatory. To ride with him in a rickshaw in such a way that body touches body is not right. If some other sin was committed besides this, then the punishment for it will be according to the sin.
