A silver ring
Question
May a person wear a ring of silver weighing 6 mashas (a unit of weight, ≈ 0.97 g), or not? And if he may, of what weight may he wear it?
Answer
For a ruler, a qadi, a mutawalli and the like, a silver ring weighing less than 4 mashas is permissible for sealing; for others it is not appropriate: [ar]وَتَرْكُ التَّخَتُّمِ لِغَيْرِ السُّلْطَانِ وَالْقَاضِي وَذِي حَاجَةٍ إِلَيْهِ مكتول أَفْضَلُ، وَفِي الْبُسْتَانِ عَنْ بَعْضِ التَّابِعِينَ: لَا يَتَخَتَّمُ إِلَّا ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَمِيرٌ أَوْ كَاتِبٌ أَوْ أَحْمَقُ[/ar]…
